Pizza Kitchen
The seed for this Harrisburg, PA project was a wood-fired outdoor pizza oven. From that seed grew the desire for a kitchen/ gathering area/dining room which would be separate from, but close to the main house. The couple wanted to evoke a style, feel and sense of place which would remind them and their extended family of their Italian roots.
The task of preheating the masonry oven fell to the husband: It’s a lengthy procedure that begins a day before the baking begins. He has baked upwards of sixty pizzas at a single event. The husband was one of the owners of Triple Crown Corporation and is now a Pennsylvania state senator.
The timbers are Douglas fir, Select Structural. On the interior the timbers are finished with Watco Natural Danish Oil. At the wall penetrations and all other exterior placements, the timbers are stained with Proluxe™ SRD.
