This lakefront hybrid timber frame home is nestled at the foot of a cliff-like incline on a narrow strip of land right on the water. Lancaster County Timber Frames designed the home from the ground up as a weekend retreat and future retirement home for a local businessman-school teacher couple. The prowed great room looks out onto the water, as does the kitchen and master bedroom, both of which have timber ceilings. Hand-carved “ram’s head” embellishments on the kitchen summer beam and the exterior purlins add a special flavor to the frame, as does an Italian proverb carved into one of the trusses: “Vive Bene Spesso L’Amore Di Risata Molto” (Live well, Love much, Laugh often).
