Completed in early 2011, it was a sheer joy working on this project, not least because of the fascinating design. The church is the culmination of years of planning and scrimping and saving of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox congregation of Waldorf, Maryland. One of the most satisfying parts of our jobs here at Lancaster County Timber Frames is to be part of the long-awaited fulfillment of the dreams of our clients.
The design stays as close as possible to the traditional architectural style of Orthodox churches of the Carpathian region of eastern Europe, with concessions to modern engineering, materials, and building codes. The frame is of Douglas fir and is covered with white pine tongue & groove roof boards. The roof design incorporates three multi-tier cupolas.
