Eight years before erecting the timber frame for the Great Harbor Yacht Club (see our commercial projects page), the same client/developer asked us to design and erect a timber frame for a residence on Nantucket. The frame is reclaimed but not resurfaced hemlock with a dark stain. All of the central living areas of the house are timber framed.
There is a catwalk suspended from hand-forged steel rods, and a tiny loft leading to a widow’s walk, accessible by a ship’s ladder from the catwalk. Nearly opaque white washed ceiling boards round out the traditional look and feel of a home on the Atlantic coast line.
