The client had spent years dreaming of a house inspire by the architecture of the many lighthouses he had seen. He brought us dozens of postcards and drawings of structures he admired and our design team distilled them into this three-tiered octagonal house with a view of Raystown Lake west of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The frame is enclosed with structural insulated panels with white pine tongue and groove ceilings on all three levels. A screened-in porch of yellow cedar functions both as sitting area and main entrance. The frame design took the Project Expo People’s Choice Award at the 18th annual Timber Framers Guild conference held in Burlington, Vermont in 2004.
