A large house with the feeling of a mountain lodge on the edge of a wooded area with a creek running through it, this large residence for two retirees was designed for entertaining. Continuing the vast great room’s roof line there’s an equally large timber-framed lanai and outdoor kitchen in the back of the house with a view of the woods, and a large family room with ceiling timbers between the kitchen and great room. Both interior and exterior use the perennially appealing combination of stone and wood.
Board and batten and cedar shingle siding summon associations with New England horse barns. The timbers are Douglas fir, finished with a clear Danish oil.
